Lauren's grandmother MADE her incredible wedding dress.  Jaw-dropping right? Hand-laced. Hand-loved. I haven't been able to do very many bridal sessions and it was extraordinary. The ability to relax, capture these still moments in this one of a kind dress, laugh and giggle a bit with the bride-to-be, practice moving and enjoying her wedding dress ...it was really special. I'm so glad we did this Lauren. I'm so glad you took the time and thought to honor your grandma and all the sweat, blood and tears that went into this piece of art. You are a joy. | lkm

AWESOME SAUCE. I've been processing brand identity behind the scenes for awhile now. I'm keeping things clean and simple until i figure it out. And apparently that's just fine because i got to meet, greet and laugh with two awesome little love birds who were precious to shoot. Her gentleness with him was my favorite part. Autumn adores Andy. And I can just tell it makes him walk 10 feet taller. He adores her back. And it makes her eyes dance like a million sunbeams...(grin)...too sappy for you? feast your eyeballs then and swoon later. | lkm

I went to go do air brushing...and i was like, "uhm...well, i guess i could...nope. not really..."... this next series in the orange trees are some of my favorites. he just holds her...and she drinks in his embrace. a boy and his gun...and his girl. :) Andy is going to be deployed soon. Not sure where. Not sure when. Not sure for how long. But by golly, this will just have to be their FIRST of many sweetheart shoots...one day we're gonna have ourselves a WEDDING! What a beautiful afternoon!! The sun mixed with a soft haze to create a soft, glowy, romantic atmosphere. Andy needed some insisting at first. (grin) It feels weird--I get it--to have somebody ask you to kiss..for a long time. and like it. and LOOK like you like it...and THEN get up in your business and snap pictures of it. I get it! But about 10 minutes into shooting, we hit a stride and i backed off a bit...we found a few stellar spots around Claremont College campus to enjoy each other a bit. Once done enjoying The Claremont Colleges, we made our way up to Padua Hills...and oh did the foothills deliver. I have a love affair with grass and all things green and sunbeams. I just breathed in the smell of spring blooming...and by this time, I saw Andy & Rachael falling into eachother even more...  I went to a photographer's conference recently. One of my favorite speakers, Sue Bryce, pushed me to slow down and really aim for a connection with the client. my groom. my bride. the person(s) in front of me who'se trusting me to 'capture them'...not just pose and go. It's easy to get so caught up in racing the sunset or making sure settings are right or your directing them well enough...but taking a deep breath, letting the clients rest, find their moment together and then nudging them to be more vulnerable and relax even more....such a skill...such an art...such a goal...  My dear friends, I am tickled pink to be trusted with this crazy awesome stage of life for you guys! Can't wait to see you again and celebrate with you both on your wedding day in June! | LKM

 {Wil & Rachel | Walt Disney Concert Hall + Santa Monica Engagement Session | Los Angelas Wedding Photographer} Holy Moly. Shooting in LA was a treat--a real break from the desert and a breath of fresh sea air. We filled our lungs and dove head first into this session. Starting early Friday afternoon, Rachel made her way to my pad to get hair and make-up done (by my amazing RIGHT HAND WOMAN for this trip, Ms Dana Buchanan of Buchanan Studios!) We planned out last details of outfits and made our way to meet Wil downtown. (Aside: Wil, if there was anything MOST awesome about this shoot, was watching you relax and love your woman. thank you for trusting me; letting me give you weird funny direction. laughing. being goofy. oozing affection over your bride-to-be. it was a joy to meet you and spend time with both you and a sweetheart!) Rachel...girlfriend, you owned this one. You are going to be one STUNNING bride :) | lkm This building was fantastic to play with! Did you know that the Walt Disney Concert Hall used to actually be uber shiny but it caused too many downtown traffic accidents with glare in the afternoon sun so they actually had to go scrub out the shine and 'matte' it up?? Crazy. kinda miss the sparkle. but i suppose people are more important than pictures.  We made our way to the Dorothy Chandler Pavlilion Courtyard to play a bit... And then we scooted west and headed towards Santa Monica Pier... so much PLAY... :)  so incredibly stoked to shoot Wil & Rachel's continued love story this June...at their wedding...on Redondo Beach. More sand and tides to come baby. "May the love roll in evermore!" WOOT | lkm

cutest 'tell our story' idea. signs all along the pathway up to the ceremony site where the last sign read, "to be continued"...I don't think i can insist loud enough for couples to really allow their STORY to play a big part in the planning and decorating and celebration of their wedding day. These personal touches made it SO special!Sam's dad made this entire barn door/wall as an amazing texture and backrop for her wedding! oh happiness... navy blue and white...so classy :) both Jesse & Sam took time at their ceremony doing things that were really special for them... you can't tell it in pictures, but it was one of the COLDEST days of the year. Sam was numb and the girls were shivering so bad. They fortunately stuck hand warmers in their dress pockets! Genius! prayers from the dads Jesse's dad popped up right as Pastor Jeff said "you may now kiss--" and literally inches away from their face started snapping pictures. Samantha burst out laughing! after the ceremony, we dashed across the street for some quick pictures at the place Jesse first asked to hold Sam's hand....on this exact bench... and then it was party time! Sam's an english major from www.calbaptist.edu and Jesse's pursuing his masters in Divinity at Duke in North Carolina. Between the two of them, they LOVE books and wanted to incorporate all sorts of personal facets from poets to prophets to pillars of the faith...mini mason jars... more hand made/hand painted boxes with their very own brand.. fun times!favorite reception game... :) and they were off!Jesse & Sam, you guys rock! We love you! Thank you for trusting your special day to us! Thank you for being SO patient for these! SO SO excited to see what the next few years hold for you! And...i definitely can't wait to get some of these memories printed and on your wall and in your hands for you to smile a thousand more smiles over! love thee much! | lkm

I met this young lady when she was still in highschool. She loved people. She loved life. She loved Jesus with all her heart, mind and soul. It's been a long, arduous road since then to the day I watched her stand before Jesse and vow her life and heart to share with him. The celebration was epic. The joy in the air was contagious. It was a day to give back to this girl who was characterized by giving so much of herself. And it was. absolutely.delightful. My heart continus to sing as i share these highlights. love her little details. pearls. sparkles. lace toms.... we got all the girls gathered up to go shoot in the hills of Norco....and yes i drooled THOROUGHLY over all that lush, green grass! (yes, i live in desert) i gave her a sneak peak of these shots and she squeeled, "oh my gosh! it really is just like pride and prejudice!! those rolling hills! Gah!" then we headed over to the Pawley's house...where she did SO much life; her 2nd home. :)best friend and MOH time together :)hashtag: resting, refreshing, sunbeam recharge, etc.meanwhile...the guys were  getting their duds on..props to second shooter Emily for helping snag their dapper-ness... :) and then they got ready for their first look :) best first look expression ever!he was so taken...so tenderand then it was PARTAY time with the wedding party! and this was only the beginning! the awesome prelude! check back for PART TWO!

I love these two... daddy daughter dances make me cry oh laughter, how you make all things sparkle :)

Since I met Amir & Maribel at an expo last May we've had coffee dates, email convos, phone chats, and shot a 3 part engagement session (Go HERE to see highlights from their engagement session!). Come wedding time they trusted me and we laughed a bunch! They're wedding party was  great--friends supporting each other and celebrating! We had a few inside jokes to tease about, they're friends and family were very gracious, and their wedding....well, here are the highlights! Jeff & Laura | A German Flight Attendant + Military World Traveler | Tucson Engagement Session

Jeff & Laura have a love story straight out of a chick flick. No joke. She's a German flight attendent who flies all over the world and Jeff is in the military, they met in the air, on a plane, thousands of feet above the earth. See what I mean? Doesn't it just make you wanna break out in song?! Or send their story to Hollywood or something?! Laura first contacted me on facebook as she prepared to come visit Jeff from Germany for a few weeks in February. By the hair of our chinny chin chin we found a date that worked, planned a shoot and hooked her up with soft, sweet, natural styling by my bomb stylist Dana Buchanan. | My time with Jeff & Laura was a royal picnic. I'd hang out with them just for fun any day. I underestimate how goofy and easy going Jeff would be--oh! and their heart-warming affection for each other is  pure gold. (sigh) Oh friends, I hope these pictures are a treat to smile over for years to come. :) Joy, LKM
